Teaching is an opportunity of sparking students’ curiosity for knowledge. My teaching efforts focus on motivating students to think critically and question underlying assumptions, with the goal of becoming lifelong learners and contributors to the practice and body of knowledge in public policy and administration.
My teaching philosophy builds from my own experience as a student. To me, staying open-minded is the most important quality we could instill as educators. I am always open to learning new ideas, teaching styles, methods, and practices to become a more effective resource for my students. I consider learning a continuous process and a significant part of one’s growth and development. We never stop learning and improving ourselves. Therefore, a teacher should be able to recognize the potential in each student and make an intentional effort to find the most effective way to connect, communicate, and contribute to their intellectual development. We learn from our mentors but also learn from one another. Thus, providing opportunities for students to collaborate with peers adds to a vibrant and enjoyable learning environment.
